Possibly my favourite photo of the 3/8 scale version of 'Crowsnest Tramway'. I was very pleased with 'Will Link' who was actually a Phoenix Miniatures cast whitemetal figure from their Victorian set piece range. All of the figures were painted using Military Modelling techniques to properly bring out the character. So as to allow for 'photo sessions' the figures, and most of the other static details for that matter, were moveable. In the case of the figures they had long brass wires fitted into holes drilled up into one leg. Small holes drilled at strategic positions in the baseboard thus allowed the figures to be moved about without any reliance on obtrusive bases. Be warned that this approach hides a serious failing. I had spent some time making a rabbit, and was experimenting with positions for it. A friend announced a visit so beforehand I gave the layout a good vacuuming. I then challenge my friend to find the rabbit. So elusive did it prove that he eventually said "O.K. where is it?". "Just there" said I, pointing to an empty space. Despite going through the vacuum cleaner bag the rabbit was never found. I still consider it my finest model, maybe even the best modelled rabbit in the world. Remember - you will need to find it to disprove this!
